| About the Authors |  Dr. Erik Larsson is the head of the orthodontic clinic in Falköping, Sweden since 1980. He graduated from the dental faculty, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden in 1963. Professor Larsson obtained his Doctorate in Odontology in 1973. The title of his thesis was "Dummy-and finger-sucking habits with special attention to their significance for facial growth and occlusion." In 1990 he was appointed Associate Professor at Lund University. In 1999 he was appointed Professor II at the University of Oslo, Norway. Professor Larsson has published one book and more than 50 articles mainly in the fields of sucking habits and growth. He has also conducted investigations on caries prevention during orthodontic treatment. |
Dr. Samir Bishara is Professor of Orthodontics at The University of Iowa since 1976. He has obtained his dental and specialty degrees from Alexandria University, Egypt and The University of Iowa, USA.
Professor Bishara is an Honorary member of the Egyptian, Colombian and the Greek Orthodontic Societies and the Mexican Board of Orthodontics. Professor Bishara was the past president of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics. He has published three books, and more than 150 scientific manuscripts and reviews that cover growth and development, biomaterials, cleft lip and palate as well as other topics. | | | | | | |
